“What to say about mentoring under Jo? In short… buckle up. While pushing you to do and be better Jo will absolutely call you out. But don’t worry about that. Firstly because it’s dripping in sincerity and love every time she does. Secondly because it’s always backed by science, spirit, good common sense, and/or your grandmamma’s voice ringing in her ear. I also hope you’ve got yourself a good pair of reading glasses because you’ll need them! Jo is quick to send you a reading list, and you should always do your reading! Somehow while having the biggest balls she is also quick to be honest about her skill and knowledge level. She will never hesitate to send you to someone more steeped in an art or practice than herself.
Now for the part everyone is interested in. Is it worth it? YES. YES YES YES. AND YES. I have never believed in myself. My power. My abilities. And Jo, without triggering my PTSD, dysmorphia, or ADHD, guided me to a place where I know who I am, what I can do (and know who to call when I can’t), and what I know. She has encouraged me to chase dreams, better myself and my practice, heal darkness I forgot was there, and safely share what I do know.
In working closely with her I have gained so much more than knowledge in the craft. I know more about the land I live on, those who came before me, and the legacy I plan to leave for those coming up after me. She opened my eyes to worlds I never knew existed and taught me how to safely travel between them. And she became an invaluable support in all that I have done.
As I look back on the last six months and all that’s occurred I can stand firm on a few things. She was right. It was all working for me. Thats the first. The second is that I always had it in me, and I’m blessed beyond measure that Jo is the one who taught me that. And lastly it will work, if you work it. You can only get out what you put in.
My life will forever be improved by the time I spent in this program. I have only one regret and that’s simply that it’s ending sooner than I ever imagined.
